Habitat for Humanity India-Kerala Flood Response Kerala received an abnormally high rainfall from the first week of June to mid-August 2018. The water levels in several reservoirs and dams were near full capacity due to heavy rainfall in their catchment areas. Another severe spell of rainfall started from the 14th of August and continued till the 19th of August, resulting in disastrous flooding as water was released from 35 of the 54 dams in the state, flooding all its 14 districts. Over 483 people lost their lives and 14 went missing.

Intending to assist 3000 families (15000 individuals) in Paravur Taluk, through value added, appropriate and affordable Housing solutions, Habitat for Humanity India with the support of Center for Disaster philanthropy has implemented Housing Support Services in the area. The Housing Support Services in Kerala is in the reconstruction phase of Kerala Floods Disaster response of HFH India to assist families to repair, retrofit or reconstruct a safe and durable house. The Housing Support Services plays a key role in empowering the families / communities to get Technical services, financial education, and optimum utilization of the funds available.
